I just got my hand-me-down copy of the 50th Anniversary Edition of Car and Driver Magazine and boy is there a lot to read in there. Guess that explains why I got got it and it has been out for around a month now. There is a fold out of a 50 year respective of covers from the magazine that is very interesting. I printed a tall one 4′ long on the plotter at work and stuck it to the side of a cabinet in my cubical. The August 1976 cover is of particular interest.

Pretty sure it’s not one of these:
2. Cadillac Eldorado – no GM product back then would have such an artistic dashboard;
And none of these would have the width for a center console like the one in the photo:
3. Fiat 124 Spider
7. MGB
8. MG Midget
10. Triumph TR-6
11. Volkswagen
That leaves the two Jensens, the Alfa Romeo, the Mercedes and the Rolls Royce. I suspect, based on the wood trim on the center console and the size of the radio (or is it HVAC?) on the console that it’s either the Rolls or the MB.
I’ll wager $1000, Alex, and ask “What does a Rolls Royce Corniche interior look like?”

I posted the same query in Car Talk and the lords of car knowledge over on M Net agree, Jensen Interceptor: http://tinyurl.com/9fb8n

Well at least I got the right island (grin).
I have to admit I’m a bit fascinated by the sun visor … two points of attachment almost makes it like an interior sun visor of cars of old.
(Hmmmm, I still think ’76 models are “new” — lol)
