Since the stickers have been on the car we have ran into a couple people we know around town and the first things out of their mouths were, “What are those Chinese letters for?” That confirms my suspicion that they are way too loud (close up view.) Off they’ll come tonight.
Rick, of Obsession fame, just sent me a link that might be just the thing: YourEmblem.com Kind of pricey, but I’m racking up the dollar total with my failed far-eastern mods…
Started down, still down.

I like the Chinese lettering…but isn’t Mazda a Japanese car?!?!? Kidding a side….. I like for people to ask questions. This gives you an oportunity to make up some BS answer or look at them like “You didn’t know that?” If ya go with the custom letters what would you pick?

The Chinese and Japanese use the same characters, they just mean different things. Most people assume they are Chinese because that is what the are used to seeing on the side of their menus in a Chinese restaurant.
As to what custom letters, if they weren’t so expensive I’d get all the correct letters for Mazda Miata and maybe switch them around a little before I put them on the car: DAZAM ATAMI

Personally, I like the letters on the car where you have them. I think they look cool. Besides, isn’t one of the reasons for putting such things on a car – aside from personalizing it – to spark conversation? I say leave em.

Already peeled them off. My favorite sticker was one I found a dozen years ago in a T-shirt shop that I put on the back bumper of the first Miata, it showed Calvin and Hobbes in their cardboard box “time machine.” That’s what I need to recreate – off to check my C&H books for something to scan…
