Not really long, it was only 239 miles compared to the straight trip of 221, but time wise it went from 3-1/2 hours to 6. If driven without stopping, those extra miles increased the time by about 30 minutes. Where did the extra 2 hours come from? There was a 20-minute gas stop, a half an hour was burned at a coffee shop having a latte and a muffin and another half an hour eating lunch. The 40 minutes was finding and setting up a photo of four Post Offices along US30 northeast of Portland.

: Rainier – This Post Office is identical looking to the one in Troutdale, only it is a nice shade of blue unlike Troutdale’s wood tones. (11/03/24)

: Columbia City – A cute little Post Office in a building that probably started life as a single family home. (11/03/24)

: Saint Helens – This town was founded in 1845, as “Plymouth”. The name was changed to St. Helens in the latter part of 1850 for its view of Mount St. Helens, roughly 39 miles away in Washington (11/03/24)

: Scappoose – This Post Office was located on a very busy US30 so this angle was my only option to get a photo. (11/03/24)

Somewhere between Saint Helens and Scappoose the Mini advanced past 47,000 miles.

My pictures for a photo challenge announced on Instagram by my favorite Miata custom product guy Adam at revlimiter.net. It started on Monday June 8th and ran for the next 30 days, ending on July 7th. All the pictures, except about 4 of them were taken on the actual numbered day. I only missed one day, #15: Pride – I had a perfect idea for this one, but whenever we went there to take a picture there was a car in the spot we needed…

Day 04 - Wheels #1
Oil Change Day. While it drains, I rotate the tires that are mounted on my WHEELS. While they were off I succumbed to luxury car anal retentiveness and lined up the center cap logos with the valve stem [Caution: photo two contains a blatant suck up in case the challenge originator decides to award prizes...] (6/11/20)

Day 05 - Passenger
99 and 44/100% of the time I am in the driver's seat, today I am playing PASSENGER and taking a selfie with two hands, so I won't drop the phone from a speeding car. (6/12/20)

Day 06 - After Dark
It is well onto day seven for everyone on the east coast, but the sun goes down way late here on the west coast above the 47th parallel. (6/13/20)

Day 08 - Track Day
Instead of our usual daily walk in the neighborhood, we drove up to Oregon Tech and walked around the running track. (6/15/20)

Day 10 - Road Trip
Took a very short road trip to different section of the OC&E Woods Trail to do some geocaching. Found 9 of the 10 we looked for. (6/17/20)

Day 11 - Carwash
First sunny day and the whole club shows up to get their cars washed. (6/18/20)

Day 12 - Radio
The only radio here is a usb stick stuck in a grom adapter that is full of 8gig of tunes ripped from radioparadise.com (6/19/20)

Day 14 - Heart #1
The only sticker we "heart" enough to put on the outside of the car is the dragon from Deals Gap. The rest go inside the trunk lid. (6/21/20)

Day 16 - Car Hole
This hole used to hold a decorative "fog" light, but now it just holds a decorative mesh grill. (6/23/20)

Day 17 - Detail
On my 2 NAs this blanking plate was swapped out for extra lighting, in my 2 NBs it holds a micro switch that operates the garage door opener. (6/24/20)

Day 18 - Shift #1
Shift: This brushed Voodo shift knob has been my constant companion since the early 90s and has been the first "mod" in my subsequent 3 Miatas. (6/25/20)

Day 19 - Envey
It started as regret a couple months ago for not buying this T from blipshift, but now has morphed into envy of any one who did. (6/26/20)

Day 20 - Slam/Tuck
My lawnmower is slammed so it can be tucked under the home A/C ducting. (6/27/20)

Day 22 - Guages
I have a lightly customized set of Adam's 10AE (grey instead of blue highlights) and having lived with them for couple years I have started missing the light colored faces. I might just roll back to stock while I wait on the Sharksgiving Sale to nab some Version Redline gauges. (6/29/20)

ODOT's website tells me I would have to drive 70 miles one way to I-5 to find a Detour Sign, so I've opted for a blast from back in 2018. (7/1/20)

Day 28 - Solo
99.99% of the time the Miata is filled with both a pilot and a navigator. I am solo in it about once a month when I am sent a mile downtown to pick up and return with our pizza. This was me last time killing time in the parking lot waiting... (7/5/20)

Day 29 - Free Space
Sundown in the Klamath Basin. I was going to take a picture in an empty parking lot like I took today's challenge literally, but the navigator nixed it. (7/6/20)

Day 30 - Family
This is our family. She has a brother 500 miles away, I have a brother 3, 000 and the other siblings plus progeny are scattered all over. (7/7/20)
