Miata Photos
CTBNL
I made a quick run to Home Depot on Sunday afternoon to pick up a couple items and seeing as I was trusted on the errand all by myself I had a chance to get up to some mischief. Ssssh, I pulled around behind the building and backed the Car To Be Named Later close to a blank wall, I jumped out, with the engine still running . . . . . . . . I took a picture.
It is so much easier to do this without Donna present. Not that she isn’t usually a good sport about skulking around behind shopping centers and hopping out of the car while I photograph it. But when I start wandering around aimlessly looking for the right angle and sitting on the ground or leaning in then getting in the car again and backing it into a spot a foot away, then dancing looking for that certain approach and maybe moving the car again with the car to get a different angle and taking a picture and then turning the wheel and backing up and…well about then she starts fidgeting.
Here is a photo with the Emperor’s old wheels actually on the CTBNL instead of just rolled up next to it. I think they look real good there, just not sold on the road feel, yet.
Calendar Girl
The guy who runs my favorite Miata shop that I’ve never bought anything from, The revlimiter.net Store, asked over on the forum for photo submissions for his 2016 calendar. I submitted the one above. Now it looks like he is not going to get enough quality submissions (no idea if mine meets his criteria) so there probably won’t be one this year.
I used to do one using pictures of the Emperor back in the Aughts, so I thought I might have enough photos built up over the last 7 years to do my own. Some quick checking and it looks like I can come up with nine. Hmmm. Doesn’t help that every photo of the Miata from the last two years has me standing near it with a silly poster in my hands. I even tried going back to photos of the previous ’95 Miata we owned, but those are so far back the resolution is too small to blow up the calendar size.
I haven’t given up, but time is getting short.

World Serious
After last night’s Detroit Flop the Red Sox are in the 2013 World Series. Their opponents will be the St Louis Cardinals and what I’m kind of hoping is it goes like the last time these two teams met in the “Fall Classic” in 2004, the Sox swept the Cardinals in 4 games. What will probably happen is more like when they meet in both the 1946 and 1967 World Series, the Cardinals won in 7 games.
What I do know is that I envision anywhere from four to seven long, tense nights on the couch watching baseball.
Cherahala Skyway Photos
A few of the Deals Gap photographers have now branched out and stationed someone over on the Cherahala Skyway to maximize coverage. I didn’t know this until we stumbled on one Saturday.
I was right on the tail of a Camaro RS that I was slowly reeling in turn by turn when I spotted the US129 Photos banner and tent with a guy and a camera. Thinking that I was too close to the Camaro for the photographer to get a good shot of the Emperor I went around the next corner to a small straightaway and did a quick u-turn. This time I passed by the photo spot unhidden. We flew by to get photographed, quickly found another turn around spot on the other side and went screaming by again.
