Like our trip all over the state of South Carolina to capture an image of every Post Office in the state, the one for Oregon will differ in a couple ways. 1) We are thinking that we aren’t going to chase every single one in the bigger towns, like for instance, Portland’s 2 dozen. And 2) Every single one of them may not have the same automobile in the photos, it might be a Miata or it might be a Mini Cooper.
Sandy - 97055
Sandy - The town is named for the Sandy River that flows nearby. Which is also the case of the road that I live on, Sandy Boulevard. (11/17/24)
Scappoose - 97056
Scappoose - This Post Office was located on a very busy US30 so this angle was my only option to get a photo. (11/03/24)
Selma - 97538
Actor John Wayne used to visit the Deer Creek Ranch one mile west of Selma back in the 70's. He grew fond of the area after filming the movie Rooster Cogburn along the Rogue River. (10/05/21)
Shady Cove - 97539
The town sits along side the Rouge River and after the mill was lost to a flood in 1964 it turned to the tourist trades of rafting and year-round fishing for survival. (9/82023)
Shaniko - 97057
Less than 10 miles north of Antelope, this is for intents and for all purposes a ghost town too. (07/01/23)
Sherwood - 97140
This was taken on my way to dropping off the Miata to be wrapped in bright blue vinyl. (11/18/24)
Silver Lake - 97638
Silver Lake - Once again named for a lake that no longer exists like a lot of these towns in the "Oregon Outback." (9/18/23)
Sprague River - 97639
No one really passes through Sprague River, you kind of have to want to get there. Today we did. It is about 40 miles away from home and the drive is beautiful. (07/23/22)
Summer Lake - 97640
Summer Lake - The lake itself is nothing but a wildlife refuge with some sporadic marshy areas. I think the small pond behind the Lodge has more water in it than what’s in the refuge. (9/18/2023)
Talent - 97540
Named for A. P. Tallent, an East Tennessee native who settled in Oregon in the 1870s. (10/03/21)
Tenmile - 97481
An interesting building with a Studebaker front end perched on the roof. We had a nice little chat with the fellow in the yellow pick-up about car color and parking lots. (10/04/21)
Terrebonne - 97760
Terrebonne is the gateway to Smith Rock State Park that is the birthplace of sport climbing in the United States. The park has nearly 2,000 routes adorning its rock walls. (07/06/22)
The Dalles - 97058
This is a fairly new looking Post Office building and sure enough, when you look right across the street you can see the old more stately looking building that it was. It now is the offices of AmeriTitle. (07/02/22)
