Like our trip all over the state of South Carolina to capture an image of every Post Office in the state, the one for Oregon will differ in a couple ways. 1) We are thinking that we aren’t going to chase every single one in the bigger towns, like for instance, Portland’s 2 dozen. And 2) Every single one of them may not have the same automobile in the photos, it might be a Miata or it might be a Mini Cooper.
Maupin - 97037
An interesting little town on US197 of maybe 500 people that straddles the Deschutes River in the northern part of the state. (07/01/22)
Medford - 97501
Big town like Medford and you would think that they could spring to put there name on the outside of the building. (10/03/21)
Merlin - 97532
A new railroad station in this location in 1883 was called "Jump Off Joe" for a local stream. The station was renamed "Merlin" in October 1886. The name came from a railroad civil engineer who named it for the merlins (a type of falcon) he saw in the area. "McAllister" post office was established about a mile north of Merlin in 1885, then moved to the vicinity of the railroad station and renamed Merlin in 1891. (10/04/21)
Merrill - 97633
If you look closely at the lower right window of the post office you will see Donna trying unsuccessfully to stay out of the picture. (06/21/20)
Midland - 97634
The first of what I suspect may be many post offices that will have the sun directly behind them when we arrive to take their "portraits." (06/21/20)
Moro - 97039
The town of Moro is the county seat of Sherman County and is the smallest county seat in the state. Its total land area is less than half of a square mile and has a population of around 300. (07/01/23)
Myrtle Creek - 97457
This P.O. must be the town gathering place as every spot anywhere near it was full and there were several people gathered outside talking. We stopped again the curb in a no parking zone, I hopped out, took this and drove off. (10/04/21)
O'Brien - 97534
Basically a country store and this Post Office are all you see of the town along US199 coming into Oregon from California. (10/05/21)
Phoenix - 97535
No, we didn't take a wrong turn in Albuquerque, there is a Phoenix in Oregon. (10/03/21)
