Trip to the South Carolina Train Museum
2nd Smallest Police Station - I doubt that anyone noticed the two small white buildings just up the street from where we ate, but I did. Here is a photo from a couple of years ago when Donna and I visited town taking Post Office pictures. The building on the right is billed as the World?s Smallest Police Station on RoadsideAmerica.com. When the town outgrew the tiny building in 1990 by adding a second officer they moved into a much larger place...the building on the left.
Lunch Crowd II - The food was very good, but some folks didn't get their food until after the table I was at had finished eating.
Lunch Crowd - We dined at Rebecca's of Ridgeway which was housed in the old Town Hall.
Lunch Parking - A little photoshop fun to change up the usual Miatas parked in line picture.
Mr. Conductor - Museum staff and volunteers run the show and though it is hard work they all enjoy it.
Full Car - There was not an empty seat on any of the three passenger cars that made up our little train to nowhere.
Fairfield County - Winnsboro is located in Fairfield County and the county helps keep the Museum going, perhaps that is why their name is on the side of the passenger car we rode on.
All Aboard - The crowd moves forward in anticipation of boarding the train.
Toot Toot - A train whistle is an ear shattering experience if it goes off when you are this close to it.
100 PPM - One Hundred Pounds Per Mile is the amount of coal #75 burns to keep moving down the line.
Loading Coal - While the previous passengers unload and the next group boards the crew is busy filling up the hopper with fuel for the next run.
Train Arrives II - Flagg Coal Company #75 Steam Engine pulls into the station.
Train Arrives - An excited crowd watches the arrival of the train back from the previous run.
Air Force Engine - One of two surplus diesel engines donated to the Museum by the Air Force base in Sumter.
Train Parking - When we arrived at the SC Train Museum there were a lot of cars on hand already, but we managed to parking in the requisite line.
Breakfast - The group gathered at at two tables at Manuel's Bakery and Cafe in the Hammond's Ferry section of North Augusta.
