Privilege - It is a privilege to live in my particular neighborhood in my little town. I can leave my house on my rollerblades and go in several directions on nice smooth, little traveled, pavement. Also, if I want, I can include as many circuits of a one mile loop of a traffic-free track around the local recreation area. I know it is a stretch, but I took my digicam with me yesterday and was fooling around snapping pictures. I kind of like this one. (10/19/2004)

Pathways - Through out our plant there are yellow stripes, either painted or taped, to signify the pathways through the manufacturing and assembly areas. Not only are these pathways used by pedestrians, but by fork lifts as well. To add to the traffic there are a couple of small automated carts about the size of a Radio Flyer wagon that shuttle parts between the assembly lines and the stockroom. These carts are named Bubba and Bubbette, each with its own company ID card and they follow the pathways that are the silver tape. (06/29/2004)

Wet - Man, this theme is a week late for me, I had a nice shot for this one, but used it for Simplicity last Tuesday. So here is an older car wash picture for you. This photo used to be the background image for The Miata Diaries, but after we traded the blue for maroon it had to come down. This was taken on the same day I took this one that I used for Change of Season last September. Matter of fact that leaf is in this picture too, but I cropped it out. (05/25/2004)

Curves - Went out tonight and chased around the back roads of Aiken County looking for curvy roads, we don't have many and we have even fewer that make a good backdrop to the sign I wanted. If this theme had waited another few weeks I'm sure I would have some nice pictures because Donna and I are going on the new Miata's maiden voyage to Deal's Gap this weekend. (04/20/2004)

Hometown - Even though I left there over 30 years ago, I still consider my hometown to be New Britain, Connecticut. So for now you will have to except this picture from my current town of residence, Aiken, South Carolina. The Aiken Sub-Standard as it is affectionately known as around here, is an afternoon paper, so it always seems like it is late with the breaking news. In this case, it looks like about a day late... Discarded - A discarded old light fixture found behind an abandoned warehouse in Augusta, Georgia. This picture came from a series of images I took for last week's Photo Friday's challenge of "Neglect." I choose a different image for that challenge and just yesterday, I discarded all the images I didn't want to keep, including this one. (03/30/2004)

Golden - I got it! I got it! Our friend's youngest son, Jared (#11 in the center,) calls off the rest of the infielders, as he reaches for a pop up at a late evening, little league practice session from last year. (03/16/2004)

Glass - Shot this evening as Donna and I wandered through downtown Aiken. This is from the display window of a place called "The Artist's Parlor." They sell art on consignment. If the owner likes your stuff she will try and sell it in her store. She must be going through a glass phase as both front windows contained a lot of baubles and beads made from the substance. (03/02/2004)

Looking Up - I took this picture in my backyard last November. My wife poked her head out the back door wondering where I was, only to find me flat on my belly taking pictures of a giant mushroom cluster that had popped up. I'm sure she was worried what the neighbors might be thinking when she asked exasperatingly, "What are you doing?" I of course answered, "Noothing..." (02/17/2004)

Patterns - Because this bit of land, approximately the size of a football field, was located inside the district of the desirable schools located on the south side of town it was developed into about 20 of these 4 unit townhouses. This wooded lot, home to dozens of birds, probably 10 or so rabbit families, countless squirrels and a fox or two is now inhabited by 80 families, each with their 2.5 kids, 1.25 pets and 2.75 cars. More efficient use of land? (02/03/2004)

Serenity - Port Clyde, Maine - September 2, 2000. We drove through the dense fog for 20 miles at speeds approaching crawling with a full car of my aunt, cousin, cousin's husband, Donna and I to get some supper. The trip down was anything but serene, but after eating a fresh lobster roll, washed down with a cold beer, sitting on the dock in the near silence was the very definition of serenity. (12/23/2003)

Rural - Professional bike riders blast across a one lane bridge in rural north Georgia, in last year's inaugural Tour de Georgia. Earlier in the morning Donna and I drove the 122-mile route these guys were going to ride, found this little bridge and knew this would be a great vantage point. (11/04/2003)

Nostalgia - A line of Ford Model A's taken at a car show put on by the Shade Tree A's of Augusta, Georgia. I digitally sepia toned it to enhance the nostalgic feel. (10/21/2003)

Circles - Thanks for this theme, really. Ever since I received the email announcing it, I have had Billy Preston in my head singing: "Will it go round in circles, will it fly high like a bird up in the sky - Will it go round in circles, will it fly high like a bird up in the sky - Bucket full of batteries, just in case I need one for my flashlight - Bucket full of batteries, just in case I need one for my flashlight" (10/07/2003)

Serendipity - Serendipity is the faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident. This was my first try at just hanging my arm out the window while driving to try and capture cars in motion. (09/30/2003)

Holey - I complained yesterday in my Daily Rant that I didn't have enough time in the day to do all the stuff I wanted to do. I forgot that it would be soon Tuesday and another photographic theme would pop into my inbox, adding to the workload. One I did mention was a photo challenge from Will to take some close-ups of the Miata, explore the minute and the varied textures available to me there. Well, I got to kill two birds with one shutter click; these are the holes in the leather seats for the speakers in the headrests. (09/09/2003)

Glass - When I got home from work tonight I checked the Phototime Tuesday site to see if the theme was posted yet or not. Not only was there a theme, but eleven people had already posted photos. WTF it's only Monday. Then the light went on, just because today was the first day of the workweek doesn't mean it has to be Monday. The edge of my glass coffee table with this afternoon's sun streaking beneath it. (09/02/2003)

Favorite - Phototime Tuesday posed this question today: "Do you have a favorite photographic subject?" If you have been checking in here regularly you know what that is for me. The Miata is my equivalent of everyone else's cat. It doesn't complain about having a camera poked in its face or having to stand around waiting for me to get the settings on the camera right and it is just so darned cute. 🙂 (08/26/2003)

Amusement - Donna and my early arrival at Orlando's Universal Studios in January 2001 let me capture this interesting shot of the rising sun shining through the Universal ball and the man-made mist beneath it. (08/12/2003)

Weather - Willie rides his bike to and from work everyday year round, 6 miles each way. He rides in the triple digit heat of summer; he rides when it is raining, and he even rides during our infrequent winter snowstorms. On this day last January nearly half the workforce called in to say they couldn't get to work. Not Willie. (07/22/2003)
