24,000 Round Bales
Somewhere close to the Mall of Georgia the Purple Whale passed the 24,000 mile mark.

Well, it’s my birthday too.
Those wild and crazy folks in our Shipping Department decided after their surprise birthday “party” for Donna, that they would have to do likewise for me. And I was totally got. I had no clue.
The idea for the shape of the cupcake cake and color scheme were the suggestion of my wife’s and I have to admit that that shade of purple is not the most visually appealing, but they sure tasted great. There was even ice cream and they sung the Happy Birthday song to me too. Thanks for the party folks, I had a whale of a time.

A couple of decades ago at a Miatas At The Gap event someone handed out a Mix CD that included a bunch of driving songs. It included The Cardigans tune My Favourite Game and while it is a cool song I could never really figure out the driving connection, until this morning. Thanks Jalopnik.
My morning snack was always a rotating series of cookies until a month or so ago when I rediscovered a childhood favorite – Pop Tarts. All thanks to a random coupon in the Sunday paper.
My favorite then was always the Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon, but now I like the Blueberry or Strawberry best. I can still dig the Brown Sugar Cinnamon ones, but they taste the best when hot and I have to walk all the way back up to the front of the Valve Store(C) to get to a toaster or one of those new fangled microwave machines and I’m all about lazy.
They come 2 pastries inside each foil wrapped pack, so naturally the nutritional information on the website lists the serving size as 1 pastry. Right, like you are just going to eat just one. These figures are for 2 tarts:
Calories | Cal from Fat | Total Fat | Sat Fat | Chol | Sodium | Carbs | Fiber | Sugars | Protein | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Pop Tart | 420 | 120 | 14 | 4 | 0 | 340 | 68 | 1 | 30 | 4 |
Look at those calorie and fat counts, no wonder they taste so good.

I pretty much gave up watching NFL way back, but started again last year when I joined a Fantasy Football League at work. But this year it is getting hard to watch. I know everybody is all over the replacement refs and the NFL front office has asked the teams to lighten up, but these scab zebras make it a pain to watch the games. I’ve read a few things and they are really not too awful, but what they have messed up have been some game changers and worse for us TV viewers is they take too long to decide most calls. Sloooows the game down.
The Emperor passed the 128,000 mile mark on a routine shopping trip this afternoon. Kinda wish it would have happened yesterday as that photo of the inside of Lowe’s Motor Speedway probably included 128,000 cars, parts or people.
Donna and I led a rally for the MMC to the Food Lion Auto Fair at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord. There was one car in the caravan, ours. A couple other guys from the Club did drive up separately in a pickup truck in case they bought something big.
If it is car related, no matter how tangentially, it is for sale at the hundreds, maybe thousands of vendors. It is also the place to buy a car as there are thousands available from a couple hundred dollar project car to a $40k ready to roll hot rod to who knows how much on a collector car being auctioned off.
We killed a couple hours at the track, eat more Cajun food than we needed for lunch, wasted a hour or so in a giant mall before driving home empty handed.
Eight years ago I blogged that I was going to vote for Wes?ley K. Clark for President. Admittedly, it was sort of tongue-in-cheek, as the only real reason I had was that Mr. Clark drove a Miata. And I never actually got to vote for him as he didn’t win the Democratic nomination. But now…
…for the second time, Mr. Miata is throwing the weight of his political might behind a candidate for the highest* office in the land, the Libertarian Party’s* Gary Johnson. This time it is different, as Mr. Johnson will be on the ballot and based on my dissatisfaction of our current two party system with their antagonistic, my way or no way, treating of each other I will probably punch Gary Johnson’s ticket.
*If you read this online The Atlantic article you’ll see that I mean these two words literally and is the icing on cake of a Gary Johnson Presidency.
