2005 Calendar Photos used in the creation of a wall calendar for 2005. January - Old abandoned firehouse on Central Avenue in Augusta, Georgia.February - This is my home PO. After ten years of growth in the 80 & 90s, predominately to the south side of town, they added a second zip and post office to handle the extra mail around 1997. It is housed in part of an old hardware store location in a strip shopping center.March - Over the last 5 years the city of Aiken has under taken a major beautification of all the main roads coming into town. They have done extensive plantings in the medians and I for one am happy to have my tax dollars gone into this project as they make nice backdrops. 🙂April - Me standing on a ladder in my driveway shooting down into the interior of the car looking for that Town & Country magazine ad look.May - Every year in April they hold a big horse show at the steeplechase field near my home. They were setting up the giant tents this weekend and they left the gate open. Shouldn't do that, you never know what might drive in.June - An out take image from a shoot with the theme of curves. I ran it through a free filter, Virtual Painter's Collage that came with PaintShopPro. This one made a real nice Windows wallpaper.July - This is painted on the wall of a downtown gallery and I had taken some photos of the blue Miata in front of it before. I may retake this one in the future because the lighting is a little harsh, but catching it at the right time is difficult, the only time there aren't any cars in front of the wall is on Sundays in the early morning or late afternoon.August - We drove by this bowling alley for years before we realized it was open for business. I guess it was only open at night or whatever. When they repainted the building and sign we figured out it was actually a viable business.September - This is the side of a now defunct Chinese restaurant in a shopping center just up the street from home. I went there to take a picture of the China Palace sign that was lying on the ground in the back. When I got out of the car I thought mmm...that would be a cool background.October - Here is another only free on Sunday location in downtown, the Aiken Community Playhouse. This started out as a photo shoot to capture car and Dustin Hoofman, but the dressed up fiberglass horse is tucked in such a way to get him and the car exposed correctly together.November - Rear 3/4 shot against the background of rolled bales of hay. Taken on a lunch time drive from work.December - I'm always scouting interesting backdrops for possible Miata shoots. I was really intrigued by this green wall. The asphalt surface was raised up, so I could get this low perspective without crawling on my belly. It had some small pines growing along the base at intervals that I "airbrushed" out because they were distracting.Cover - I chose one of the first ever photographs of the car as the calendar cover page image.
