I had an idea for a blog post and if I was in the mood I know I could have stretched it into a couple hundred words, but I wasn’t, so I turned into a tweet for the MMC.
I have come to the conclusion, from swapping between the Sonata & Miata, that the Miata’s steering wheel is too big for the size of the car.
Exactly 140 characters.

You may be right about the size being wrong, although I do not agree. I will say that if it were smaller, it would not be as comfortable for the fingers on longer drives. I find the smaller big truck steering wheels less comfortable for the fingers because while gripping the wheel the fingers actually have more pressure to bend sideways. If you do that long enough…

Ahhh…maybe not so perfect. I meant the overall diameter of the wheel, not the diameter of the ring you hold. The Miata’s steering wheel has a diameter of 14-1/4 while the Sonata’s is 14-3/4. I know they make aftermarket steering wheels, but I’m cheap, don’t really want to lose the air bag and I really hate that unfinished look you get when the wheel doesn’t cover the whole plastic shrouding of the column.
