I bought the long awaited DVD of the movie Grand Prix last Saturday and finally watched it today, a week later. Donna had said she would be interested in watching it with me, but she is not to receptive of loud noises right now and with half the reason to see this movie being the sounds of mid 60’s Formula 1 race cars, I watched it by myself. On the laptop with headphones on. VRRROOOOM, VRRROOOMMM.
Started down, went up, still up.

It is on the short list for birthday presents in September.
I watched it as a kid also, at the only movie theater in town that had Cinerama, because that was how it was originally filmed. It’s still one of those all-time best move memories, and one with a unique perspective — there were no heroes or villains in the story.
I don’t know about the “no villain” thing, maybe it is just me, but I found the James Garner’s Pete Aron to be a very non-sympathetic one. I was actually routing for the Brian Bedford character, Scott Stodard, to win the race.
I will have to add that one to my netflix queue.
