Another Missed Opportunity

Yesterday’s Sport, Off-Road, Touring theme was inspired by an auction of an illuminated PORSCHE sign. First, I was going to go look for other car make signs to fit into the other 2 categories, but unfortunately that auction was about to be over. So I did the next best thing, I selected cars with something sign like painted on their sides.

When I noticed that the letters were separate from each other I thought maybe I should buy it and then I could occasionally shuffle them around to spell out messages on the front lawn because the letters are a foot high and almost two feet long. I wondered what other words I could make with the sign. I googled for a site that could create anagrams and ended up at Inge’s Anagram Generator. The result is 291 anagrams, but only one uses all seven letters:

There were no 6 letter words and a few 5 letters like CHORE, CHOPS, HORSE, PECOS & SCOPE. There a bunch of 4 letter words, but not of the dirty kind. As I read through the list several times, I noticed there was a 6-letter word missing – CORPSE.

I thought maybe this was a deficiency in the solver, so I tried a couple other anagram generators and lo & behold, none of them would kick out 6 letters answers. I needed a different tool. I got Google to spit out Word Unscrambler. There I found that there are 10 more besides corpse, including CHORES, EPOCHS & of course POSHER because Porsches are more elegant than Fords.

Missed my opportunity to have some fun & all it would have cost me was a mere $6,600.
