We went out driving in the Miata looking for tonight’s Super Moon. Once we got heading east we could see we were in trouble because we could see the tops of thunder clouds on the horizon. It was still in the upper 80’s, but the sun was down and it seemed pleasant enough, so we kept on driving. Followed one road til it T’d at a dirt road, flipped a mental coin and went left. A little less than a mile we came to a paved road with a recognizable name, so we took it and headed back into town for some ice cream.
Part way back, as we drove along a smooth, two-lane back road there was the moon off to the left. Found a place to stop and take some photos, but by that time it was too high in the sky to look anything different that a plain ol’ full moon. Fooled around snapping photos, but nothing came out worth anything except maybe this picture of The Emperor with a car passing in the background taken facing away from the Super Moon.

If you want another chance to see the big moon, it rises in your area tonight near 9:12pm. and sets around 6:41am. I have better luck watching it set in the early am. It was huge in March. Last night it was cloudy here and by the time I saw it it looked normal here too. They say watching it rise from the water is the best but here in Harrisburg, PA. I must settle for watching it set on the way to work.

Unfortunately for us we will be starting work at 6:30 tomorrow morning and if the Weather Channel’s Next 6 Hours thing is accurate it will be raining here at 9PM tonight…
The closest I’m getting to see the Lunarmax is to buy one from Dunkin’ Donuts.

Well all my attempts and failures to see the moon in rising or setting phases are worth it when I do see it. That one day in March just blew me away and I am sorry to say I was not educated on the super moon at that time. I just got lucky. Now I keep daily rising and setting charts handy to guide me in my quest.
By the way, I liked your picture of the Miata under the darkening sky. I always appreciate new ways to admire the MX5. I enter my house via the garage door, even when I drive the truck to work, just to be greeted with a smile from my MX5. For me, a friendly greeting in any way after work is a great attitude adjuster. Sorry, I am starting to ramble on again. Have a great day!:)

Question: Do you have a counter of some kind to know how many of us out here are appreciating your blogging efforts from day to day? Is there a way to know how many website hits you get? I guess I really should further educate myself.

Counters are so last century, so geocities. 🙂 I have access to a bunch of stats through my web host, but I’m not sure exactly what I can learn from them. For your viewing pleasure: Stats of the entire mr-miata kingdom from April.
Now a bit of that traffic comes from me. Every time I want to go to a website I usually view I get there by opening my page and going to the links page, writing here viewing comments, etc.
