There’s a similar memorial in NC on I-85 north of Salisbury. Interesting thing to me was that I-85 criss crosses so that the north bound lanes are on the left side and the south bound lanes are on the right side (facing north). The criss-cross happens at a point where you don’t realize it, I had to go to Google maps to really believe it.
The NC memorial can be visited from the rest area on the south bound or north bound side.
This is a nice little park and we have earmarked it for a return visit.We get get sunrise views from the condo, but here you are supposed to get a great sunset view.
Took me a while to find that wrong way interstate bit. It is at Mile Marker 100 and I bet I have driven that stretch of I-85 and not realized what was going on…
