Not The Ultimate Drive

Was it the current tough times or was that just the excuse they needed, or maybe they were going to stop after 12 years no matter what, but BMW didn’t do the Ultimate Drive For Susan G Komen this year. Both Donna and missed doing it too.

A fellow MMC member emailed me the other day and wanted to know if I knew about a program from Ford that would donate $20 to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure for test driving a Ford. Didn’t, but we are tempted, so we took the first step, registering for a test drive certificate here. It is not as much money as we would raise in a day driving BMWs, but still, driving someone else’s new car and raising money for a good cause can’t be half bad.

There is a dealer in Traveler’s Rest, SC that was even matching it with another twenty, but we had just got back from up that way visiting my sister, so we didn’t necessarily want to go back up there.

If I was buying a Ford it would be a Mustang GT convertible with a manual transmission, so I set out to see if any of the local dealers had one like that. Nope. Convertibles were extremely rare and ones with a manual transmission were non existent.

What’s strange is that the dealer in Traveler’s Rest, George Coleman Ford, has 4 Mustangs and 2 of them are convertibles.

Postal Tracking #

I had no less than 5 virus infected emails that started with that subject followed by 15 alphanumeric characters in my work inbox this morning. I have been getting 1 randomly for the last couple of weeks, but today was a big influx and it reminded me I hadn’t written about spam in awhile…

Crazy Creek Cache Conquered

Crazy Creek CacheWith a third try and a big hint from the cache owner we found this sucka. Funny thing is the GPSr lead me to the correct GZ several times in our two previous fruitless attempts, but I just wasn’t looking in the right spot. Hindsight is twenty-twenty, so we feel a little foolish for not having found it before, but the other 4 cache hides in Hitchcock Woods were all so similar that we expected this one to be of the same type. Not so, it was a clever hide that we hadn’t seen before.

The lesson was learned and we now have another arrow in our cache hunting quiver for the next time the expected ones don’t find the mark.

The Pope Visits New England

On a trip to the US, the Pope visits the coast of New England to enjoy the Atlantic Ocean crashing against the rocky shore. While there, he sees a man in a New York Yankees hat out in the water, calling for help as he’s being attacked by a shark.

Then, out of nowhere, Sully and Murph, wearing Red Sox shirts, come flying up in a speedboat, haul the man in the Yankees hat out of the water, and beat the shark to death.

As the three men come ashore, the Pope runs up to them and exclaims “I have always heard of the enmity between fans of the Yankees and Red Sox. But seeing what I have seen today, it renews my hope for all of mankind. Thank you, and God bless you!”

As the Pope rides off in his Popemobile, Sully turns to Murph and says “He seems like a really nice guy.”

To which Murph replies “Yeah, but he knows @*#!-all about shark fishing.”
