Practically every year since 1992 the folks at Mazda have released a special edition Miata. Usually unique in color and loaded with extras. Some of these are particularly sought after, especially the 1993 Limited Edition black with red interior and the 1999 10th Anniversary models. For 2007 there has been an SE in Japan and England, but not the US. It is similar in color to my car, but more like the 2000SE with a dark purple exterior and light beige interior.
The Japanese market is lucky enough to get a lot of other stuff that we don’t get over here. The best is something called Web Tune where you can order your car online after customizing it with all kinds of goodies that you can’t get here.
I found an image of a Mazdaspeed MzTuned Roadster on the web somewhere and it has been my PC’s wallpaper for a while. The car is in silver and it is kind of boring, so during a dull moment today I played around coloring it. They have made Miatas in a bunch of colors including a plethora of blues, several reds, a bunch of greens, most primary colors, including three shades of white, but they have never offered any kind of beige. I think this color I call Champagne would look pretty good on a Miata. Maybe it will be next year’s special edition color?
Tonight was the May meeting of the MMC, but at the last meeting they though it would be a good idea to meet at 7:00PM. This is later than Donna and I like to eat so we stopped on the way home from work and picked up our usual 14″ pie at Ferrando’s.

Spent Today: $15.83

I think they have adjusted the crust to something thinner than they used to do, it was still good pizza, but slightly different. We ate 2 pieces each finishing half the pie. The second half is earmarked for Saturday lunch.

My Ford pickup is that color exactly. It is a great color to own. Being a Ford color could find it’s way to Japan. The color always looks clean. When washed it just gets shinier. But, like any metallic color, it is hard to hide a blemmish with touch up paint. A good professional can fix them though.

I saw this color on a Jaguar some years back and decided then that I would want it on a vehicle I could better afford. I guess I could afford it on the pickup as we (Linda & I) just paid off the pickup last month. I would possibly buy another vehicle that color even though I love our 2004 in Pure White.

I like this color as well and think it looks pretty good on the MX-5. Mazda’s probably hasn’t offered anything in this color before because they love selling the LS (or now GT) with the leather seating, but up until 2003 the only color leather they offered was a tan. This exterior color begs for a darker interior.

Although I do favor our Miata in the Pure White (yes, I am the Linda that Michael refers to in the first two comments), the Champagne color is appealing. I do not, however, care for the tan interior that Mazda currently offers. I prefer either our tan or a black interior. FYI – Michael & I participated in the BMW Ultimate Drive yesterday in Reading, PA. It was a blast! Looking forward to participating in it again. We drove 6 different cars. The course was 14 miles. That comes up to 84. Add a few extra miles for missing our exit on the first run. Guess we were having too much fun!

Welcome Linda – I’m betting it is to save money, but Mazda should have offered something beside tan for the lighter colored cars. And what they call tan on the new generation cars is abysmal. There is a fellow on the Miata Forums that took the red interior from a 93Le and put it in his silver (or maybe it is white) car. That is a classic combo that we should be able to get from the factory.
Glad you did and had fun at the Ultimate Drive. I have the hardest time convincing people to do it, but if I can get them to try they are hooked. It is for a good cause, it costs you nothing but time and what a fun way to spend time. I’m sure when next year rolls around we will do at least two more around here.
